Slow Cooker BBQ Wagyu Beef Brisket Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Brisket:

  • 3 1/2 - 4 lbs. New Zealand grass-fed Wagyu beef brisket flat, trimmed (Tip: look for the Taste Pure Nature Logo)

For the Dry Rub:

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

For the Sauce:

  • 2 1/2 cups ketchup, divided
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, divided
  • 3/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, divided
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Directions:

For the Dry Rub:

  • 1. Place all ingredients into a small bowl and whisk together until completely combined.

For the BBQ sauce:

  • 2. Pour 2 cups ketchup, 3/4 cup brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, ground mustard and black pepper into the slow cooker and stir together.

For the Brisket:

  • 3. Rub brisket all over with dry rub. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • 4. Place brisket into slow cooker, turning to coat with the BBQ sauce. Cover the slow cooker and cook on high for 5 hours.
  • 5. Remove brisket and place on a foil lined baking sheet. Loosely cover with foil and set aside.
  • 6. Skim as much fat as possible from the BBQ sauce and pour reserved sauce into a small saucepan. Discard fat.
  • 7. Stir in remaining ketchup, sugar and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 15 minutes until sauce thickens.
  • 8. Set oven to broil on low.
  • 9. Brush half of the sauce over brisket and broil brisket for 4 to 5 minutes. Remove from the oven, thinly slice and serve with the remaining BBQ sauce.
