Thai Grass-fed Beef Salad Recipe

Skip the take-out and re-create the flavors of Thailand at home in less than 30 minutes with this delicious Thai salad recipe from Silver Fern Farms! Combining succulent New Zealand grass-fed beef with fresh and aromatic herbs, cherry tomatoes, and a hint of chili and honey, this salad brings the flavor – and a bit of heat.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lb. New Zealand grass-fed flat iron steak (Tip: look for the Taste Pure Nature logo)
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper

For the Dressing:

  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 1 lemon, zested
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

For the Salad:

  • 2 heads romaine lettuce, chopped
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro
  • 1/2 cup Thai basil
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • Red and green chilis, sliced (optional)

Directions:

  • 1. Let the steak come to room temperature for 10 minutes.
  • 2. Drizzle the steak with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
  • 3. Heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat and cook steak for 3-4 minutes on each side, for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.
  • 4. Remove from heat, cover with foil, and let rest for at least 5 minutes.

For the Dressing:

  • 5. In a small bowl, combine the fish sauce, lemon zest, and honey. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

To Serve:

  • 6. In a large serving bowl, combine the lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cilantro, Thai basil, mint and green onions.
  • 7. Slice the steak across the grain and arrange on top of the salad.
  • 8. Drizzle with dressing and garnish with the sliced chilis, if desired.
